The Qiang People live in the mountainous region in the northwestern part of Sichuan. Archeological finds date this culture is indigenous to the region for over 3,000 years .
The climate in the Sichuan province is highly variable, with humid subtropic climates in the lowlands and subarctic climates in the mountains. With the culture mainly made up of farmers, the Qiang people have been cultivating these surprisingly citrus-like peppers for over 1,000 years.
